*1/3* of 5-7 year olds have *unsupervised access* to social media. This is insane. Parents please take the phones off your children. It’s not a baby sitter. It’s a window into every horror humanity can imagine, and at best it’s a mindless attention hoover that teaches children to…

‘Sorry for talking so much’. I don’t normally post pics of thank you gifts but this is an absolute cracker 😂 It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to work with our wonderful S6 over the past 6 years.

‘As an outside at-distance observer of a school you are simply not in a position to judge – so you shouldn’t.’

Thanks for your honesty Tom Sherrington - behaviour is a contentious topic. There is no binary - context, relationships and systems are key.

In A&E at the QEUH just now with Dad. Time for reflection once again on how lucky we have been to attract brilliant staff to work here from all over the world - and what a mad act of economic and social self harm GOV.UK are committing by making it harder for them to do so.

Use the Model for Great Teaching to structure T&L discussions.

Can we explain how & why the curriculum should be sequenced?
Do we have multiple explanations & examples at hand for when students ‘don’t get it’?
Do we know the common misconceptions surrounding each topic?

This headline should be corrected. The big drop (-500) is in student teachers not proceeding to their probation year. This may be because they didn’t pass, or dropped out of the course. It’s unlikely to be because they ‘opted out’ of probation.

Well worth a read. Stuart’s critical analysis of the issues with teaching ‘skills’ & the importance of scaffolding knowledge in order that students can build clear schema is astutely observed.

Jenny Gilruth said last year she wanted to hear the views of teachers before responding to the Hayward review. The Scotsman reveals today a majority of Scottish teachers told the Government they were opposed to scrapping exams for S4 pupils. scotsman.com/education/exam…
