Think I finally have a name for this intriguing chrysalis found in a cave in N. Wales in 2018: the Muslin Footman (Nudaria mondana). Appears to be able to reuse its caterpillar hair as possible protection for the chrysalis.. Cofnod British Moths

It's pretty noticable numbers are starting to fall as some birds start their migration, but thankfully at the minute 18 nests remain active. These chicks are 6 days old.

Anybody else noticing this? Seems to occur on farms in Enviro' Stewardship as much as those outside. Must be a severe limiting factor on pollinator abundance & lifecycle completion yet I can't get recognition/discussion of the issue!

One of two B. monticola gynes exploring yesterday amongst stone fields (790 m) for a site in which to dig a hibernaculum: upper slopes of Glyder Fach, Eryri NP, North Wales.
