Friendly reminder that if refs called a Travel every time a player argued for a Travel, then our Call Accuracy % would be well below 50% on such plays, and we would be out of a job.
Yes, refs miss calls. We’re human. But we miss far less than players/coaches/fans think we miss.

If you yelled “HOW’S THAT NOT A TRAVEL?” when you saw this play tonight, I have the answer, straight from the NBA Rulebook & Case Book.
After Nesmith jumps to shoot, and drops the ball, Hauser appears to touch the ball first. Legal.

Great analysis JJ Redick. Tough play to ref, for sure. Great comment by Doris Burke as well… “I’m just wondering if the tie goes to the runner”.
Interestingly enough Doris, the NBA Officials Manual says something about this. Block/Charge ties go to the offense.(Attachment below)👇

Ref4all Sorry I missed this yesterday. I was busy until the Celtics/Pacers game started. My apologies.
So this is a tough one, but I think I would prefer a no-call on this play, in every 🏀 league. Even leagues playing by FIBA rules.

If I was reffing this play, I’d let the play SDF

Tough one, but since Luka was an airborne player when he received the pass inside the Lower Defensive Box (LDB), KAT has to give him space to land. It’s very close, but I don’t think he gives him space to land without contact.

Hey Three Year Letterman
Know anyone in the market for a gently used vintage globe?
I’ve always been of the opinion that you can never have too many of them, but since I have two others, I’m willing to sell this one to someone in need.

Below is the ‘23-‘24 WNBA rule (🔴), and corresponding ‘23-‘24 NBA rule (🟡), for reviewable matters during instant replay review of an OoB violation, triggered by a Challenge.
It seems the most logical next step is for the NBA to add the WNBA’s #7 to their corresponding rule.

Coaches: Everyone’s a “foul when up 3” expert but here’s what’s never talked about even by smart players like LeBron. What does your team practice? Do you practice who to foul? How to foul? Where to foul? When to foul? Personally, after years of differing, I WOULD FOUL. And the

Haliburton cleaning up his side step footwork. Dribble ends clearly with right foot down, the next step is the pivot foot, which means that right foot can drag along the floor no problem. Then jump into shot 👌

Violence against sports officials has been an alarming trend on the rise for some time – especially in youth sports – causing an official’s shortage. There are countless examples documenting violence towards officials all over the country from youth sports parents and coaches.
