While “in house” lobbyists are allowed unfettered access to Parliament and elected members without any accountability, their malign influence decides government policies eg gambling David Pocock Anthony Albanese

A 22% increase in people classified as problem gamblers in a single year shows how badly this parliament has let down the people we are here to represent by not taking action to ban gambling advertising. No one is saying you can’t have a punt on the Melbourne Cup but we have to

Hard to understand a govt that blocks teenagers from social media but has *no* issue with them accessing online gambling platforms at all, or with them being bombarded with ads for online gambling. theage.com.au/technology/aus…

This is marvellous news. So notable of course that three quarters of Tasmanians wholeheartedly supported the phase out announcement after it was made. (Source EMRS) Those are remarkable numbers by any measure. 🙏Jeremy Rockliff

Breaking. #politas. The legislation to phase out vastly unpopular #GreyhoundRacing is introduced to the lower house of parliament. Nation leading and fully on trend with global sentiment. Red letter day.

Labor MPs who want gambling reform fear speaking out. Andrew Wilkie has called on the PM to grant them a free vote. abc.net.au/news/2025-11-0…

Tasmanian Labor. Important piece today from ABC Investigations. Skewers the pernicious grip of the gambling heavies and their toxic impacts on already disadvantaged communities.#politas ⁦Kristie Johnston MP⁩ abc.net.au/news/2025-11-0…

This is the biggest Labor caucus in history. Is it also the most afraid? Powerful analysis by Steve Cannane. abc.net.au/news/2025-11-0… I fully support Andrew Wilkie MP‘s call for a conscience vote on gambling reform. The Xbench will keep pushing for the implementation of the Murphy

Australia’s poker machine story started 70 years ago. We were warned of harms from the beginning theguardian.com/australia-news…

It's criminal how much these gambling companies are getting away with. On a daily basis they are preying on our kids. It's also just as criminal that Anthony Albanese and Anika Wells MP continue to protect them and do nothing to stop the harm they are causing. abc.net.au/mediawatch/epi…

The sports gambling industry in Australia says “Jump”. To which Anthony Albanese sadly and consistently says “How high?”. 2 1/2 years after the Murphy Inquiry report recommended 31 reforms to reduce gambling harm, the government is yet to respond. #EndGamblingAds open.spotify.com/episode/5gaDt2…

The gambling lobby is releasing ‘research’ today saying someone else is the problem-straight out of the tobacco playbook. Get ready for ⁦Anthony Albanese⁩ to start parroting these lobbyist lines. They are fighting the ad ban so hard because ads work. #auspol #gamblingreform

Any move to walk away from the core recommendation of the Murphy Review for a phased in total ban of gambling advertising that has unanimous support across the parliament would be a huge betrayal not only of the late Peta Murphy's legacy but of the wishes of our community.

Gambling ruins lives. It is absolutely unacceptable that the Albanese government will continue to choose vested interests over the wellbeing of Australians and hide behind a watered-down policy - if they ever introduce one. We need action on gambling harms now.
