Allowing her head to rise more out of the water, Sirena sniffed the air and crinkled her nose. “You don’t smell like a human. You smell of flowers, melancholy, and salt.”

Noting the fading smile, the mermaid tilted her head slightly and drifted closer. “Is that a bad thing? Being high fae?” Glancing around, Sirena pointed to an old, discarded dress near her on the sand. “Can you toss me that?”

Taking the cookie, she sniffs it curiously before stuffing the whole thing in her mouth.

Cookies are a good alternative to sweet rolls! Which she can’t have anymore since she’s allergic to them. She ate twenty-five of them in one sitting and then threw up.
