Tonight Oakham Fire trained with our new pneumatic lifting bags. These bags are used to lift heavy objects off of pinned patients. These were purchased thru thanks to Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Massachusetts State Fire Marshal. Without this grant Oakham would never be able to purchase equipment like this.

It’s that time of year. Let’s all check our smoke alarms and CO alarms. With heating season approaching it’s a great time to be sure we stay safe.

A nice picture but not the way we want to spend our days. Please remember no open burning of any type. Our members have been in the woods almost everyday for a week and the crews need a break. This dangerous weather looks like it going to continue for the next week.

You've changed your clocks, but have you checked your alarms? Put in fresh batteries and check the manufacturing date on the back! #SmokeAlarms should be replaced after 10 years and #CarbonMonoxide alarms should be replaced according to the make/model (usually 5, 7, or 10 years).

Just after midnight last night Oakham Fire responded to Hardwick for a multi-alarm fire. Coupled with the head start this fire had before being reported and lack of a water supply this fire was challenging for the area departments. Oakham crews cleared at 430.

Please use caution outside the wind and the ice has brought down numerous trees and wires. Tonight a car struck a tree that had fallen in front of it, fortunately no injuries.
