Great stop by the crews of OFD today and the mutual aid partners. The fire was kept to the garage and no one was injured.

Tonight Oakham Fire trained with our new pneumatic lifting bags. These bags are used to lift heavy objects off of pinned patients. These were purchased thru thanks to Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Massachusetts State Fire Marshal. Without this grant Oakham would never be able to purchase equipment like this.

Today the US Navy Sea Cadets who drill at the Oakham Fire Station placed wreaths as part of Wreaths Across America. This program is to honor fallen veterans by placing holiday wreaths. This event aims to Remember, Honor and Teach about the sacrifices of American Heroes.

Ice rescue drill tonight. Remember the only safe ice is in an ice rink

Just after midnight last night Oakham Fire responded to Hardwick for a multi-alarm fire. Coupled with the head start this fire had before being reported and lack of a water supply this fire was challenging for the area departments. Oakham crews cleared at 430.

With the possibility of ice tomorrow please stay away from any downed power lines and see the information from our friends Massachusetts Department of Fire Services below on generator safety. Oakham Fire will have crews on duty tomorrow to handle any storm related emergencies.

Please use caution outside the wind and the ice has brought down numerous trees and wires. Tonight a car struck a tree that had fallen in front of it, fortunately no injuries.

Last night just after 1am Oakham Engine 1 and Car 1 provided mutual aid to the Town of Spencer.

On April 22nd Oakham Fire and Police responded to a dog trapped under a shed. Oakham Fire is happy to report the dog was freed and had been reunited with no injuries

At this time Gaffney, Lincoln, Coldbrook, Grace Lane are all closed. We have numerous live wires down starting fires. Oakham Fire is prioritizing calls and the grid is on the way. stay away from any downed lines many are still live. Do not attempt to put out any fires they start
