Cancer deaths declined by 70% in children & 63% in teens thanks to improved treatments & clinical trials. But funding that supports groundbreaking treatments & trials are at risk. Congress, save children’s lives by fully funding the NIH & National Cancer Institute! #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth
This #MesotheliomaAwarenessDay we highlight that it is rare, aggressive, & often diagnosed too late. Research into treatments offers the only path forward, but requires investment. Congress must fund NIH National Cancer Institute CDC Cancer to give mesothelioma patients a fighting chance.
A healthy heart is key to cancer prevention, and prevention starts with smart policies. On #WorldHeartDay, OVAC calls for increased federal funding for CDC Cancer, NIH & National Cancer Institute to support research, reduce risk factors, and build stronger, healthier communities. ❤️
OVAC congratulates Anthony Letai MD PhD on his appointment as Dr. Kimryn Rathmell! Dr. Letai brings a deep expertise & strong commitment to innovation in #CancerResearch. We look forward to working with him at National Cancer Institute to advance OVAC's priorities & accelerate progress for patients & families.
Oct. is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Breast cancer affects everyone—women, men & families. Early detection saves lives & research brings hope. OVAC urges Congress to increase funding for NIH, National Cancer Institute & CDC Cancer to continue to advance our fight to detect & cure breast cancer.
Although more common in women, breast cancer can affect men, too. According to American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, this year ~2,800 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed and ~510 men will die from the disease in the U.S. #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth Learn more: cancer.org/cancer/types/b…
Each advancement in cancer care, from screening to survivorship, depends on sustained federal investment. Congress must prioritize funding for NIH National Cancer Institute and CDC Cancer programs!
Over 18 million Americans are cancer survivors. CDC Cancer and National Cancer Institute programs help improve the quality-of-life post-treatment but need sustained funding to continue the work. Congress must act now & vote to increase funding to these critical institutions & programs.
This #NationalMammographyDay serves as a reminder that early detection saves lives. But access to screening shouldn’t depend on income or zip code. Congress must invest in programs like CDC Cancer’s NBCCEDP to ensure all women can access lifesaving care. cdc.gov/breast-cervica…
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S., but 40% of cases are preventable. CDC Cancer programs are a first line of defense, funding screening and providing education & data that saves lives & reduce costs. Congress must prioritize funding for CDC Cancer!

This #LungCancerAwarenessMonth, we’re inspired by Clara—a young, active woman whose life was upended overnight by a lung cancer diagnosis. Her story reminds us that cancer can affect anyone, and no one should face this journey alone. GO2 for Lung Cancer 🫁🩵go2.org/blog/young-act…
