On January 2, 1981 OPP Provincial Constable Richard M. Verdecchia was shot and killed in the line of duty in Huntsville, Ontario. Rick was born in Sault Ste Marie and previously served at the Hearst Detachment. He is always remembered as a respected hero in life.
