Visibility without competence is a loan you'll eventually have to repay with interest. Build the skill first; let it earn the spotlight.

If you want to grow, especially in academia, read this: You MUST learn how to handle criticism. We all receive an abundance of it. Learn to use it as a foundation for growth. Learn how to discard unfounded criticisms without letting them break you.

I hate to break it to you. But you will fail. No matter how well you plan. You will fail. There is no escape from it. You can strategize like Pep. You can plan like Michael Scofield. But you will still fail. The only question is whether you get back up.

I will advise you to become a mad man. Or mad woman. Anyhow. Just be mad. Mad about the things that matter to you. Mad about the kind of life you want for yourself. You will win.
