Ohio COVID-19 Tracking Update: Another day at over 8% increase in new cases. The overall mortality rate statewide is approaching 5%.

Data from Sunday, April 19, 2020 indicates significant spread of the virus in Marion County. at 1,834. Marion now holds 16% of the cases state wide.

COVID-19 cases increased from 11,602 on Sunday to 12,919 on Monday for a change of 11.4%. Pickaway County is following the path established by Marion with a 161% change between Sunday and Monday.

Moderate rate of increase between Monday and today with an overall 6.2% gain. Marion had a significantly slower rate of 3%, yet Pickaway infections continue to grow with a 31% increase.

Statewide COVID-19 infections for April 26 were 15,963, a modest 2.4% increase over April 25 totals. Overall infections per 100,000 are 139, with Central Ohio reporting the highest rate at 312 and the Southeast counties the lowest rate at 42. Total Ohio deaths are now at 728.

The rate of increase for COVID-19 continued its downward trend on Monday. As of April 27, there are a total of 16,325 reported cases across Ohio. This constitutes a 2.3% increase over Sunday's totals. There are wide disparities between counties by infection rate.

Comparison of fatalities for April 30 and April 23 shows a 319 count increase (48.6%). Deaths in Pickaway County surged from 5 to 21 (320%) for the week, while deaths in Marion County only increased by 1.

As of May 6, 2020 there are 21,576 COVID-19 cases in Ohio and 1,225 deaths. This represents 2.9 and 7.9 percent increases for each of the two categories. Deaths now account for 5.7 percent of all infections. Visit oaiph.blogspot.com for the latest updates!
