One of my saddest threads. There was hope for preserving the St Wddyn's Church wall paintings, but they were ultimately destroyed, not by restoration, but by the old village's demolition and drowning to supply Liverpool with fresh water.

None of the family understand why I think finding someone called Thor in a cartulary is exciting but it has made me smile all morning.🙂 Shows how Norman-ised the country became - his son was called William.

If a 1369 document says it was dated the Sunday after the feast of St. Benedict, what feast day are they using? A Handbook of Dates says 11 July was the translatio but google seems to think this was the 21 March date and 11 July the feast. Anyone know? #medievaltwitter

This amazing processional seems to be very much under the radar but will be part of a new display in Norwich Castle I believe. Would like to know its provenance. #Cluny #Medieval Norwich Castle norwichcastle.wordpress.com/2021/02/18/cas…
