Sarah Cohen-Woods doing some really important work on epigenetics and eating disorders. This work can help better identify people at risk of developing eating disorders for early prevention, and understand the relationship between our genes and the environment SMHR #smhr2023

Delighted to announce I’m leading a 2024 NHMRC Ideas grant. I recognise good science got us here, but with just 11% funded, luck plays a sig role - very thankful to my supportive institution & collaborators (incl co-CIs Jeff Craig Karina Allen Kate Fairweather & Katrina Scurrah).

The festive season can be particularly difficult for people with eating disorders - and we don't always know who's struggling. These holidays (and all year round), a reminder to not comment on people's bodies or what someone is/is not eating.

Are you a qualitative researcher interested in helping to learn from premature deaths in eating disorders? Please get in touch to help with a new project.

It is hard to understand RISK scores as humans - PGC Consortium speaks against embryo selection using polygenic risk. I hope this does not continue or spread further. Ethical implications are huge, as are a fundamental misunderstanding of this science. science.org/content/articl…

It's that time of year when I start to populate the interview schedule for Einstein A Go Go on 3rrrfm. So if you know somebody who would be a good guest, DM me. PhDs, ECRs particularly welcome. Would love to hear from more geologists this year too.

Make that call, connection, or visit; don’t leave it to next week. Lost someone important to me. Had scheduled to call him this weekend after failing to call him over the last three weeks, and not managing to fit in a trip to visit him in the UK in Dec/Jan. Connect. 💔

This is a huge issue from a collaborative perspective, as well an individual leadership. If the results are known it would be good to share them embargoed out of respect of researcher time. Don’t care when they make it public but we need to know to be effective in our jobs.

This Sunday on Einstein A Go Go 3rrrfm I will once again be joined by 20 amazing PhD students for #20phds20mins. It will be a fast paced show of 20 different topics. This will be the 9th cohort (10th if you count the virtual program last year!). Those on Twitter include:
