Whilst continuing our Moorhen project Fota Wildlife Park today we also ringed 2 Mallard, a Black-headed Gull and 2 stunning Tufted Duck. Soomaa National Park - Thanks to #SERE24 (sere2024.org), organisers for taking us to such a special place. Rannoch rush, now extinct in Ireland, is common in the site. Seeing it again feels like meeting a distant relative you haven't seen in a while.

NPWS recently attended the 14th EU Conference on Ecological Restoration #SERE24 hosted by Estonia, home to a wide range of peatland types such as the fens & transition mires at Alam-Pedja Nature Reserve. The NPWS National Fen Survey is underway & results to be published in 2025.
