#CollegeBehindBarsPBS is a powerful look at how prisons and colleges can intersect. And a reminder that almost all inmates will be released, and deserve a chance. This is what I really want to use my *upcoming* PhD to study and promote. Also, Bard Prison Initiative is amazing!

“We can’t ignore the fact that mass incarceration is rooted in slavery and structural racism. We cannot just dress these same systems up differently and call them something else.” - @Reubenpoet He’s right. #MassIncarceration is deeply rooted in racism and white supremacy.

Holy relatability, batwoman! I never really thought about it this way, but yeah. I never believed I'd live past the year 2000 (age 27 for reference). I had no framework for what life beyond my 20s would look like. No wonder I'm such a nihilist!

This is a really powerful piece about prison life from the Marshall Project. The system is rigged against these folks, then punishes them further for not complying. themarshallproject.org/2020/02/27/wel…

All of thos and WAAAYYY more. No one in my family has a doctorate. I had no idea what I was getting into. The good of it is that I had no preconceptions about what it would be, but the bad was that I didn't know what I didn't know and therefore couldn't ask, or felt I couldn't.

I sincerely hope that they give the moderator a mute button for the next debate. Or have a group of women who've been talked over for the past *forever* on stage to give them a smack down. Also, Kamala's facial expressions are everything.

Day 2 of #EViEConference21. I really deeply appreciate meeting and hearing about the work of fellow emerging evaluators. Also, my presentation is finished!

Next Friday (9/10) at 7pm Poetic Justice will be held online. It is a beautiful telling of stories and spoken word poetry about criminal justice and mass incarceration. My friends (currently incarcerated) will be part of this. Please join and share! emancipatenc.org/poetic-justice/

One other thing: Poetic Justice is being sponsored by a wonderful organization called Emancipate NC. Check them out and see the cool work they're doing to fight structural racism and mass incarceration in NC. emancipatenc.org

My friend, who happens to be incarcerated, has been working on this legislation (Prison Resources Repurposing Act) for the past few years. I have helped when/how I can. This article from NC Policy Watch just came out about it. I'm so proud of this work! ncpolicywatch.com/2022/08/12/inc…
