Norway, today and every day, calls for the full application of the #UNCharter including the limitations to the veto set in Article 27 (3). It was never intended that the veto would be used to enable unchecked violations of the UN Charter.

Israel’s decision to deny UNRWA food convoys access to northern Gaza is unacceptable. Famine is imminent.

1/2 Norway firmly condemns Minister Smotrich’s announcement to declare over 800 hectares of land in Palestine as “state lands”.
Israeli settlements on occupied land are illegal under international law & undermine the prospects for an independent and contiguous Palestinian state.

Finally the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during ramadan. With 32 000 lives lost and enormous humanitarian needs, a ceasefire and increased humanitarian access is urgently needed.
