Day 2 of NSM's Thailand trade mission included meetings with Thai Vegetable Oil, a soybean meal and edible oil manufacturer; swine feed producer United Feed Mill and commodity trading company Grainland. Relationship-building is a cornerstone to selling and buying soy!

NSM ended their mission in Thailand with meetings at Inteq Group, a feed and food producer and Thai Union Feedmill, an aquaculture and poultry feed producer. They also hosted a seminar with participants from several businesses in Thailand.

The latest from USDA NASS reports 6% of soybeans in WI and SD have been planted and 13% in MN. Mike McCranie's family farm in northeast SD started their season planting soybeans. McCranie, an NSM director, reports that planters are stopped today after receiving rain.

Growers in the upper Midwest are hard at work planting the 2025 soybean crop! After a long stretch of favorable planting conditions, Wisconsin farmers have 40% of their soybeans planted, while just over half of the crop is planted in both South Dakota and Minnesota.

Farming is unpredictable! Nancy Kavazanjian from Wisconsin shares that after a cool start to the season, they were busy planting, fertilizing wheat & terminating cover crops in early May. Just after soybeans were planted, tornadoes & hail hit! Now it’s back to cool, wet weather.

Soybeans on Nancy Kavazanjian's SE WI farm are making progress! Soybeans are just starting to bloom in the NSM region. The USDA National Ag. Statistics Service reports 64% of MN soybeans good, 12% excellent; 55% in SD good, 7% excellent and 59% WI beans good, 14% excellent.
