Just south of 24th Street, 1409 Castro St. is a tiny cottage that looks as though it could have been lifted straight from the Gold Rush. Likely dating to the 1870s or early 1880s, it originally faced Jersey Street and was shifted into its present position on the lot around 1900.

In the 1870s and 1880s, there was a pond in Noe Valley on the west half of the block bounded by 24th, Noe, Jersey, and Sanchez. (At that time, maps show the block bisected by "Kepler St," which was never opened). An arm of the pond was crossed by a footbridge on Noe St 1/

OPINION: There's something about having a thoroughfare where you feel safe to walk, bike and roll without hurry that nourishes new connections and brings people together. We've become friends with so many neighbors we would never have met otherwise. sfexaminer.com/our_sections/f…

Thinking they would have had more success in Noe Valley if Inle Burmese Cuisine had added “some Thai noodle dishes and vegetarian curries” to their menu before moving.

School groups are stopping by our mural for impromptu lectures from Josue, the painter. His mom is painting on left, and Anthony is atop the ladder! To be honest, this is the best $8,500 I’ve ever spent.
