NZ politics. No longer a floating voter. The National/Act/NZF government is destroying Aotearoa.

Sources: Nicola Willis is considering a ban on coffee machines in public offices so staff members have to buy 7 dollar flat whites at local cafes

The Govt’s is nasty, insinuating people are “entitled” for WFH. Many people save hours of their time by not having to travel for work. WFH was largely not possible for many pre Covid. Now it is. You’ve cut 1000’s of jobs in Wellington that’s the problem in Wellington cafes!

We all know it's not just the public service layoffs this govt has pretty well porked the entire wellington workforce. My partner is an engineer and the industry is flatlining. A mate in banking has had their team halved and even essential projects have been shelved.

Hard to tell whether the reduced number of people going to restaurants & cafes in Wellington is because of people working from home or because of the 6000+ public service jobs this government has cut during a cost of living crisis... Who could say?

This is all doom and gloom thanks to our coalition of cuts They're even disestablishing the customs dog training programme Careful what you wish for farmers New bio security risks will increase waikatotimes.co.nz/politics/35042…

I was going to write something about this - but Lilly has put it far more eloquently and accurately than I could. If we care about productivity, delivery, capability, or cost - this is a bad idea.

The other weird thing about today’s announcement is… It was an announcement about the working conditions of about 2% of the New Zealand work force. Why’d the whole country need to hear when it could’ve been a memo to the chief executives?

During the Pandemic over 100 countries had lockdowns but we scapegoat and demonise only one world leader, Dame Jacinda Adern. Aotearoa had the world’s best response despite all the vitriol and hate she received and still receives most of it jealousy not genuine criticism.

Listening to Christopher Mark Luxon on Morning Report talking about working from home public servants being made to go back into the office, all I'm hearing is: NANNY STATE! NANNY STATE!!

Today's edition of the Act Party newsletter says New Zealand will be better off under climate change and the RMA is the reason people join gangs 🤨

I feel that messing with the employment conditions of 30,000 people in order to hopefully benefit a localised subset of unrelated businesses is an idea that requires some proper scrutiny. nzherald.co.nz/nz/heart-of-th…
