Nikhil Hira where there is supply chain,...such matters are classified under complex tax cases because of tracing how things came from source to consumption before a tax refund is approved.

When there is something to do with tax refund we have to mention complex tax case, such cases are associated to:
• Tax liabilities that may not be traced due to complexity of rates,originality, or source of raw materials have different levies, customs duty in addition to VAT

So a 3 hour 20 minute Budget speech! Has there been a longer one? I don’t recall one. The Speaker looked as though he was getting worried at some points!

Exactly my concern

Housing levy of 1.5% could be a mine field. The devil will be in the detail. For example how will someone who wants to buy an affordable house access the funds.

What is the definition of a complex tax case?

“Discourage tax planning”! What am I going to do!

Given the amount of discussion there has been around Finance Bill 2023 in the last few weeks - the tax measures being given in the speech are not new.

16% VAT on fuel justified given large credits OMC’s are carrying. Of course, they should still be able to recover the credits so wont be paying VAT yet

VAT changes: LPG to be zero rated? Didn’t FB 23 make them exempt?
Export of taxable services VAT to be removed - he doesn’t say zero or exempt but FB said exempt

And yet the tax burden is proposed to be increased further?
