PRS for Music If you are an emerging Grassroots artist doing an online show and make £251 in ticket sales then PRS for Music will now be taking 17.93% of that in order to give it to major artists

OK - PRS have let us down badly at a time when musicians and venues are struggling. It's no good just shouting that music shouldn't be licensed. It should! But here's what they have to do if they don't want to be responsible for musicians going bust 1/7 theguardian.com/music/2021/jan…

I was proud to be made chair of PRS Foundation , which is an inclusive charity for talent development/new music, last year. Today, I am disappointed to see that PRS for Music has not yet issued a statement in response to protests from artists and venues over their new license.

Good news for songwriters this morning! Just 34,909 grassroots artists online streams to go until PRS for Music will have raised enough money from the new Online Tariff to pay the salary of their CEO! Keep working and you can pay their top 15 executives by Christmas! #fixPRS

Day 6 of the PRS for Music Online Tariff Debacle. Number of events cancelled now running into 1000s across many months, performers and songwriters losing work and money, no on knows what to do, PRS silent. No licencees = no licence fees #fixPRS

The introduction of this Tariff has already seen hundreds of live events lost, costing performers and songwriters vital opportunities to generate desperately needed income during this crisis.

We are living in one of the most difficult times ever for our live music industry. We have seen a reduction of more than 80% in revenue. Being one of the first industries to close and likely the last to reopen, the Cultural Recovery Fund was a lifeline for some businesses. (1/9)

Day 10 of the PRS for Music online tariff debacle PRS are 'consulting with key stakeholders' to develop a reasonable and proportionate tariff. *checks inbox* Any time you want to talk with the grassroots sector to create such a thing, we are all ears.

Distribute this to artists that actually need it, put it to good use. Don’t incentivise inaccuracy. Black box money should be put back into the industry where it’s needed most to help it thrive and keep it alive.

Several weeks after their botched attempt to tax online grassroots gigs ridiculous amounts, then their U turn after outcry, we finally receive notice after trying to apply for PRS for Music online license that not only do they not exist they don’t know how they work either #FixPRS

I’m going to politely describe the decision by Glastonbury Festival to choose that specific weekend as ‘disappointing’. But it unfortunately reflects a complete failure by the festival to support grassroots music venues. Literally no engagement with Music Venue Trust at all.

Just walked past a gym on Great Ancoats Street with a sign on the wall that says 'we do things differently here' - no babe it doesn't appear that we do anymore. STOP DOING THIS EVERYONE. STOP IT. REPEATING THE SAME OLD SHIT IS NOT DIFFERENT, IT'S LAZY AND BORING. You're welcome.
