I mean, honest truth? It’s having to deal people who are so addicted to their privileges and dominion over science that they’d rather try to destroy peoples’ lives and careers than let one journal try something new.

Enough with this humble bragging about your acceptances and rejections to prestigious schools and programs, state school folks rise up.

If I get a promotion, it would mean a lot more work. For a salary of 100-140K as a start. Which I’d have to fund myself via grant applications.

I’ve said before that academia is a scam, bc in NYC that salary is absolutely not enough for the misery & isolation the job requires.

I didnt get the grant I applied for in January. I’m bummed but also knew it was a long shot.

Been questioning whether research at an institution is for me? Bc they want your work to be more important than raising your kids or having a life outside of academia.

Such a great opportunity and team!

Exclusion isn’t always active. It can be tiny indignities over time that show someone they’re not welcome, their opinion isn’t valued, & they’re not as good as others. I feel awful today but will do all I can to ensure others don’t ever feel like this. You belong & are needed♥️

First grant rejection as a PI and it’s all feeling more real now. Definitely hits different when that means you won’t have summer funding for students yet, and not just that there’s room for improvement in your ideas.
