It's important to remember that Edward Said taught at Columbia for 40 years. Columbia has a Centre for Palestinian Studies due to his scholarship. He unabashedly navigated those wretched spaces; confronting and exposing what no one else would— to build an entire new discipline.

Academics need to put all their nuanced takes and airs of balanced views aside for a minute and find a way to fight this nonstop onslaught on universities. We are failing our students and compromising their futures. We have to do better.
