The last member of York Normandy Veterans, Ken Cooke (99) at the Allied Air Forces Memorial Day at the Yorkshire Air Museum. An extremely poignant and well organised event which ensures that we never forget those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice. So important to Ken.

Remembering my great friend York Normandy Veteran Flying Officer Douglas Petty who died on this date two years ago aged 99. Doug flew 31 missions as a Flght Engineer with the RCAF, 29 of them in the Handley Page Halifax and said he was lucky and had an excellent crew.

Today a phenomenal event took place in the life of my friend Normandy Veteran Ken Cooke(99). An incredibly kind gesture by First York saw them name a bus after Ken. For the first time in many years he was speechless as he had no inkling of this. Ken so greatly deserved this.
