My hometown of Lackawanna, NY, received one of the last Carnegie libraries.

It made all the difference in my life 80 years after it had been built and continues to change the lives of so many.

These statistics are incredible.

With what evidence can we claim an increase in neighborhood traffic because of bike lanes?

And if traffic increases in neighborhoods, shouldn’t neighborhood streets be designed to be as safe as possible anyway for pedestrians?

I’m sure this conversation has been had, but has a serious plan ever been put forward to fully integrate public library systems with community colleges?

Seems like a lot of existing, public infrastructure can be easily revitalized for public education.

Except the Jesuits! Ignatius abhorred prisons after spending so much time in them.

This is another very interesting area of Church history.

A Jesuit friend of mine, returning from philosophy studies in Paris, replied “Studying philosophy”.

The TSA agent then asked the sweat inducing question: “What is philosophy?”

Interestingly enough, Barbaro was never consecrated a bishop.

It’s also interesting that his prelatial dress seems to mimic that either of a Franciscan or Sylvestrine prelate (Prior to Vatican II, bishops coming from religious orders had modified dress).

A lovely Mass last evening with Daniel Cardinal DiNardo of Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston celebrating the members of The Cardinal’s Circle who make Catholic inner-city education possible in Houston.

Grateful to University of St. Thomas for use of the Chapel of St. Basil

How is Harry Truman both a White Supremacist and an Anti-Racist?

I think I understand how, but it might be just straw in my mind allowing it to happen.

“Our reverence for the Truth might be a distraction…”

I mean… the words escape me. How can someone lead a publicly funded media company and insist that the TRUTH might not be a part of their mission?

We have to do John Paul Jones next.

If Franklin was the first American, JPJ was the first insane American we can really admire. Blockbuster level content.

Golfed exactly once and it was here in Houston. It was horrible.

Finally, on the 17th hole, I made contact on the first try and the ball sailed over a knoll. When out of site, I heard a resounding *dink* as the ball hit something metallic.

It hit an abandoned oil derrick pump
