Have you heard about the '21 hour' rule which impacts #YoungAdultCarers? Learning and Work Institute are calling for young adult carers to be exempt from a rule in the benefit system which means that they cannot claim Carer’s Allowance if they study for more than 21 hours per week.

Social care has its own NIHR Programme! Funding big and small studies of social care for children and adults in the UK. Funding some other things too. I’m delighted to be appointed as Programme Director for the initial years. Our first call will be launched in Sept: keep alert!

Yesterday, our #FamilyProject had a Parent Network Event at Weston Park Museum, where Pete McKee's and SYC's joint exhibition is currently open! It was a great afternoon out, with the some of the creative team behind the 3D 'HOPE' wording getting to see their work displayed 💙

What a truly incredibly powerful and fitting way to finish the 4th International Young Carers Conference with a message from the young carers and young adult carers to the world. All put together by them in just 2 days (See comment for part 2) #Awareness #Support #Choice

Here is part 2 - the young people only met on Tuesday, with even more inspired to get involved yesterday. They discussed, wrote, agreed and delivered such a clear, powerful message clearly stating what they want for all young carers. It was a privilege to be in the room #IYCC2024
