The NSW govt has lost its way. Public schools need MORE funding not cuts. This state should put public schools first and stop giving money to private schools. Most private schools belong to rich churches - they can afford to fund their own schools #publicschoolsfirst

Appalled that Chris Minns & Prue Car MP are cutting funding to NSW’s already chronically underfunded public schools while also asking Jason Clare MP to fully fund them! How the hell does that work? Cut your funding to the already overfunded schools. Don’t shortchange the neediest.

I’ve spent a lot of time discussing Scarborough’s Reading Rope lately- here’s what I wish everyone knew 1⃣ The strands do not develop independently. Growth on one affects growth on others- e.g. improving decoding skills enables readers to ⬆️ their vocabularies by reading text.

1. Teach a curriculum that intentionally builds pupils' knowledge of the world. Make thoughtful choices about this curriculum and be willing to adapt it over time. 2. Teach reading in a way that offers pupils a vast array of meaningful experiences with written language.
