Views near fairlie in S. Canterbury today. 🌱Some greenness coming back into these hills compared to when I passed a few weeks back! NZ had a drought this year which has winter forage crop yields back massively. Adverse weather causing issues both here and at home☘️

Different type of day in Canterbury. Much needed rain today for both irrigated & dryland farms.Irrigation couldn’t keep up with the dry conditions the past few weeks☀️ Crucial rain for seed crops too just coming in time.Field of RGT Tobby white clover seed destined for France🇫🇷☘️

A type of machine I wouldn’t have seen too much of before. A windrower cutting a bulky arable silage (pea barley mix), easily 10t Dm/ha. Big swarths for the baler to get into! 🚜 Field is ex kale and will be going into permanent pasture after this crop. 🌱

Demo paddock sown about 10 weeks ago. 🚜🌱 Fit for second grazing in the next day or so. Different fescue/cocksfoot cultivars sown, real good establishment of clover in the fescue/cocksfoot cultivars due to slow establishing nature of those grasses vs PRG.

Lucerne transforming the productivity of this paddock, summer dry can leave grass paddocks obsolete at this time of year🌱Lucerne-seriously water efficient & able to reach it at depth when other plants can’t.Clever species selection can change the game in dryland pastures in NZ🇳🇿

🐑 Lambs grazing this spring established pasture of RGT Hustle PRG, Quest w clover & Greenly II cocksfoot. Lambs thriving with growth rates of 240g/head currently. Small amounts of improved cocksfoot added to pasture mixes in this type of country for added insurance in summer🌱

Serious crop of RGT Nouga tall fescue & Rossi red clover paddock after getting the chop this afternoon ☘️ No shortage of red clover anyways, tall fescue great with clover! Pretty sure this haylage is destined for the overseas equine market in japan! 🇯🇵🚜

Dryland species discussion on a sheep and beef property & how species in the RAGT portfolio can help transform production!☘️ Big emphasis on Lucerne establishment, grazing management & development prior to establishment. Heavy rain shower had just rolled through the valley! 🌧️

RGT Rossi red clover fresh out of the encrusting plant today, one of the top performers available under NZ conditions ☘️! Just about to be blended into a pasture mix, ideal for all systems - beef sheep and dairy! Just in time for autumn sowing ⏰🇳🇿

Killer views on a cloudy day in south Canterbury. ⛅️ Out checking crops with a pretty cool view of the fairlie basin! Harvest well under way, fairly stop/start this year for growers but on forage front these hills are looking a lot greener than this time last year! ☘️

Powerful feed here💪 🐑🐄🚜- mainly red & white clover, chicory & hybrid tetraploid ryegrass. Hybrid ryegrasses proving a popular option here in NZ for shorter crop rotations where timeframe doesn’t suit perennial ryegrass, big advantage of high quality yields in that period ☘️

Well Into my second Autumn down in NZ 🍂🇳🇿 Getting colder in the morning but still unreal sunny days! Hopefully another month of good growth left in the South Island. Deep in the southern alps today checking out some new Hustle RGT18 paddocks sown this December 🌱

Autumn time in Nz, snow after getting dumped on the alps! 🏔️Still plenty of days of sunshine! Winter feed comps well underway around the South Island to find the better yielding and quality crops about before winter hits! ❄️🥬 Nice to get out and about to do some measuring 🚜

The Irfu see the Ireland men’s 7s team as a financial burden and not a genuine pathway. In reality, the Irish men’s 7s program brings in the most external investment in the IRFU behind the men’s XV. This video is to inform and to bring clarity to the current situation. 1/7

Big kale crops back in between the mountains on the banks of the Rakaia gorge, NZ 🗻🥬 Crops often as good as what’s grown on irrigated flat Canterbury land due to some rain off the mountains throughout the season!

Niall laffan (@nialllaffan) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Up the Canterbury back country last week or so checking out crops prior to winter grazing. Our RGT Greenland rape performing well, winter of the local winter feed comp this year for best Rape. If I took this picture this week it could have a lot of snow on the mountains! ❄️🥶🐏

Drills flat out the past few weeks, typical spring powerful Nor’wester winds drying out soil all around Canterbury! ☀️💨Easy see how soil loss can be a huge problem here! Paddock of RGT Savvor Red clover for a lamb finishing system with the hunter hills in the background! 🍀🐑

Nearing the end of fodder beet crop sowing season here in Canterbury, drills starting to finish their 24/7 shifts the past few weeks. Higher ground like this here always gets left till last. Easy see why when there was snow when I was up this time last week! 🚜
