In a new TrendsTalk, we chat once again with President of IUBMB, Dr. Alexandra Newton Lab, who introduces us to new awards and initiatives implemented under her tenure, including the Emerging Leader Award and the Africa Initiative.

The Emerging Leader Award was created to recognize talent from countries with limited opportunities, and the first recipient of this award is Dr. Robert Adamu Shey. Robert joins us in the TrendsTalk to describe what the award means for him and his career.

The Africa Initiative was recently started to provide opportunities, such as skill acquisition and networking, for young scientists from Africa. This includes the PROBio-Africa Fellowship (iubmb.org/activities/fel…).
