Unlike most other complement proteins which are made in the liver, >90% Factor D is made in adipose tissue.

♦️Most common mutations ➡️ C3 convertase & Factor H gene
Acquired 🧪 factors
♦️Most common autoantibodies ➡️ C3 & C5 nephritic factor
♦️Other etiologies: monoclonal gammopathy in older adults
