April 11, 1966, Umpire Emmett Ashford, made his major league debut in a Washington Senators vs the Cleveland Indians game in D.C. I never had a chance to meet Emmett, but his beautiful daughter came to hear me speak in Los Angeles shortly before the pandemic in 2020.

April 7, 1905. For a second consecutive day, the Philadelphia Giants defeated Newark of the International League. The Atlantic City game ended had 6-4 final as timely hitting and a 5 run first guaranteed the win. Dan McClellan, (standing right, last person) went the distance.

April 5, 1915, Jack Johnson is defeated by Kansan Jess Willard in 26 rounds in Havana, Cuba and lost the World's Heavyweight Championship. Johnson, reportedly, took a dive. Back in 1907 Johnson had umpired a baseball game between the Cuban Giants and Philadelphia Giants.
