Yesterday the SB 83- UIC Class 2 crew toured neighborhood O&G fields in LA to see firsthand the operation of waterflooding operations to inject wastewater back into the ground after they skim for oil. In the largest urban oilfield, the ratio is 5k bls of oil: 350 bl of water!!

Right now the Trump administration is virtually giving away our #PublicLands to the #oilandgas industry including 1.6 million acres in the Central Valley. That's why I am DC today to #Lobby4OurLands. California joining Montana and Utah advocates.

Thanks to all the community members and partner organizations who worked for 17 months in Shafter and Fresno in the implementation of AB617. Two strong plans were approved by CARB board last night that will bring millions of dollars to help reduce and mitigate air pollution.

We need Gavin Newsom to prioritize the health of #CA residents living next to dangerous oil and gas operations. Everyone deserves the right to breathe clean air and live in healthy environments. We need 2500-ft setbacks NOW!

The reality is that too many Californians don't have clean air to breathe or water to drink. That's unacceptable. That's why two years ago I established the Bureau of #EnvironmentalJustice within CADOJ to help those communities hit first and worst by climate change & pollution.
