Women Seed Savers & small farmers are the foundation of food sovereignty & food security . Most food we eat comes from small farms. Large industrial farms produce commodities, not food . They go to biofuel & animal feed , not nourishing people .Small farms grow biodiversity.

Owning life by claiming it to be a corporate invention is both ethically legally wrong.  Living organisms are self-organising, self-evolving, sovereign beings.  Artificially adding a toxic gene into a living element should be considered a pollution, not a creation. Dr. Vandana Shiva

The only way to farm sustainably is to farm according to nature’s ‘law of return’ – returning organic matter to the soil to feed the soil biology and build up soil nitrogen and other nutrients. Dr. Vandana Shiva

When those that need to be regulated write the laws to get absolute power ownership over seed (which is life itself) while absolving themselves of ecological n social responsibility, it is not just a crisis for food and agriculture, it is a crisis for democracy. Dr. Vandana Shiva

Living Soil is a complex food web, teeming with life.  One cubic meter can hold 5,000 earthworms, 50,000 & 12 million roundworms.  This life in the soil is what rejuvenates soil fertility, and makes nutrients available to plants to support our agriculture. Dr. Vandana Shiva

Water rejuvenate through organic farming that enriches the soil - 0.5% of organic matter in the soil conserves 80,000 litres per hectare. We do not just need more “crop per drop” we need more “drop per crop”. Dr. Vandana Shiva
