18 April 1912. The Cunard liner RMS Carpathia brought 705 survivors from the RMS Titanic to New York City. The ship, which was 67 miles away, received a distress call from the RMS Titanic. It arrived 1 hour and 40 minutes after the ship sank and rescued the lifeboat survivors.
