It's such a simple positive step for nature – a £35 hollow brick in every new home for endangered cavity-nesting birds, especially marvellous swifts. Builders in favour too. All Labour MPs have to do is vote for a Labour MP's amendment to make it happen. theguardian.com/environment/20…

A major loss of the protected pearl mussel on the Owenriff River is causing serious concern to Lough Corrib Anglers. The ongoing pollution of this important habitat has been continuously highlighted by the Carra Mask Corrib Water Protection Group to no avail. 1/2

10 years on from an intensively farmed silage field, this meadow is unrecognisable. Hundreds of Common spotted orchids will be flowering in the next few weeks, along with Red clover, Bird's foot trefoil, Common knapweed & so many more hay meadow species, supporting biodiversity.

What are we going to do about deer? This likely ancient woodland is trying to regenerate, but hordes of invasive exotic deer eat every seedling. We're helping the owners to protect in situ those seedlings that do germinate, but make no mistake, Sika deer are killing this habitat

This to me is astonishing. The site of Ireland's 1st breeding Cranes in centuries, could be 'developed' as a solar farm, instead of being protected for crane recovery. "the bog with the nesting cranes is at the pre-planning stage for a solar farm" irishtimes.com/science/2025/0…

Wexford lagoon facing 'ecological disaster' "The animals that lived on the seabed are gone. The plants that lived on the lakebed are gone" "It's very, very clear that the cause of the collapse is due to excess input of nutrients from the surrounding land" rte.ie/news/2025/0520…

First water becomes undrinkable, then unswimmable, then untouchable "Ireland must not follow England’s example on maintaining waterways" "it is striking how quickly overall Irish river quality has declined in recent decades" irishtimes.com/opinion/2025/0…
