“We have a religion which was given to our forefathers and has been handed down to us, their children. It teaches us to be thankful, to be united, and to love one another. We never quarrel about religion.” ~ Red Jacket, Sagoyewatha, Seneca,

“We live, we die and like the grass and trees, renew ourselves from the soft earth of the grave. Stones crumble & decay, faiths grow old and they are forgotten — But New Beliefs are Born. The faith of the villages is dust now... but it will grow again... like the trees.. May

“The old people came literally to love the soil and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power. It was good for the skin to touch the earth & the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with bare feet on the sacred earth.” ~

"Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect." ~ Chief Seattle, (1780-1866)

“I believe in God, but not as one thing — Not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong.” ~ John

This edition of NDN Astronomy comes from the bush in Northern Ontario. I took this photo of M42 (Orions Nebula). Our traditional name for this constellation is Biboonkeonini, (Winter maker). Rez Cat and I woke up at 4am and got out of bed and this is what greeted us.
