In India, chevdo is a street food, served in newspaper cones as a grab-&-go affair.
In EA, it settled down & become the star ingredient for other unique EA foods.

Some all time favourites: Chana bateta mix from Naushad in Mombasa and Zanzibari mix at Forodhani in Dar es Salam.

Bro Sameer Sewak it has become a part of Kenyan food culture.

It’s recipe got ‘East Africanised’ by the 2/3rd generations Kenyan/Tanzanians of Indian origin and then exported to Britain in the exodus of 50s.

The current recipe came back to Kenya in the 70s and remains top tier!
