All three Leading Edge PCs were configured with Varta batteries. None of them leaked. I wonder if there were batches that were made poorly, like in the late 80s/early 90s. Pretty much ever Amiga or Acorn computer with one has leaked catastrophic. 🤔

I really like this Franklin PC 8000. I know it's just a PC XT clone, but I love the aesthetic and find the architecture to be interesting. It has a coincell battery holder on the IO card for the RTC. Nice of Franklin not to use a Varta.

I think this'll be a hit in Europe, but will leave many Americans a little bummed. When I heard that the Amiga Maxi was delayed and that a new mystery system was coming soon, I had hoped for a surprise, like a mini DOS PC with an optional 7 inch LCD that looks like a CRT. Nope.

Switches in Magnavox, Commodore, and Thomson monitors always seem to fail. I can't seem to get this one to stay switched on. Is there a fix? If not, where can I source a replacement (US)?

I was given this Thomson monitor and as soon as I turned it on, the filtering cap blew. Today, I replaced the cap with what I had on hand. It worked for 20 seconds, and then the screen no longer displayed anything, though it continued to provide sound. Any ideas?

Clint, from LGR, did an amazing job capturing what the Long Island Vintage Gaming Expo is all about. I can't recommend this event enough. I love this expo so much that I volunteered this year with my daughter. ❤️ LGR youtu.be/aUliKw3ZpoA?si…

An auction just closed on a large lot of Paul Allen's collection. I think the lot was from the now closed Seattle’s Living Computers Museum. Given some items were sold or donated expecting to be in this museum, some aren't happy. Most sold above estimate. onlineonly.christies.com/s/firsts-histo…

The PSION Series 5 ran on 2 AA batteries (10+ hrs), using an Arm 7 CPU at 16mhz. The display is a touch-sensitive, backlit half-Video Graphics Array (VGA, 640 × 240 pixel) LCD with 16 greyscales. It came with only 4mb RAM. Storage was upgradeable with a compact flash card.
