NYPTA is urging $349.5M in non-MTA capital funding, including a $100M increase over the Executive Budget and restoration of $26M for NFTA rail. This investment will replace aging vehicles and strengthen critical transit infrastructure statewide.

NYPTA supports sustainable dedicated revenue to help upstate transit meet growing mobility needs. Extending the $25 vehicle registration fee or dedicating a small share of corporate taxes would provide reliable funding-while protecting long term MTA operating and capital support.

NYPTA supports increasing DOH funding to $6M for rural transit systems impacted by Medicaid transportation changes. Updating funding from the current $4M accounts for inflation and helps ensure rural communities can continue providing essential transit services.

STOA Revenue Trends for 2025–26 show a growing imbalance. Upstate transit funding has shifted from dedicated revenues to state general funds, while downstate systems rely almost entirely on dedicated sources. A more balanced approach is needed to protect upstate transit.
