🐻 On August 21, 1921, Christopher Robin Milne received a teddy bear for his first birthday. That bear would become the inspiration for the world-famous Winnie-the-Pooh character. The real Pooh took up residence at NYPL in 1987!

Tomorrow, August 24, marks the 125th anniversary of Jorge Luis Borges’ birth. A distinguished Argentinian poet, essayist & writer, Borges was well known for short stories such as "La Lotería en Babilonia" - the manuscript version seen here has extensive revisions in Borges’ hand.
