Rain has returned to the region this evening, and the latest projections keep rain in the region well into Tuesday. By Tuesday afternoon, showers may be more "hit or miss" but will be around. Amounts are not expected to be very high, and severe weather is not expected.

We’ve received a few reports of weak funnels around the area. Environment this afternoon is favorable for producing weak t-storms and funnels. Any funnel clouds that develop are expected to be weak and not touch the ground. We appreciate reports and photos, but stay safe!

530 pm Update: We continue to see very light rain showers develop late this afternoon. Severe weather is not expected, but very brief and small funnels could form. These funnels generally do not pose a risk of touching down or causing damage.

Dense fog has develop along parts of the Missouri River early this morning. If you are in this area, please drive to conditions as visibility in this area has dropped to a quarter of a mile or less. The dense fog could expand over the next couple of hours.

5 PM: A chance of weak cold air funnels continues through the early evening, but we also have some scattered showers moving across the area. Some lightning is possible with this activity, especially from De Smet to Howard to Corsica. This rain fades as we lose daytime heating.

7:55 PM Radar Loop | Scattered showers and t-storms will be gradually dissipating this evening, as they move south or southwest. Some of them south of I-90 will produce occassional lightning strikes and/or rumbles of thunder, but rainfall amounts will remain less than 0.10".

Wildfire smoke continues to filter through the region today with an increased potential for surface impacts this afternoon. With this in mind, minor to moderate deteriorations in air quality and visibility will be possible especially west of the James River and east of I-29.

More wildfire smoke will progress through the region through tonight promoting periods of reduced visibility and unhealthy air quality. With this in mind, any sensitive groups should limit or post-pone outdoor activities until the smoke passes.
