Ensemble of NERFC river forecasts today for the area of Buffalo NY like Cayuga Creek show near or more than 50% chance of action level responses from rain and snowmelt on Wed. On the occurrence of ice breakup and jamming, minor flooding may result.

Forecast show precipitation amounts up to an inch across Western and Central NY into MA. There will be a mixture of precipitation types with rain in the south transitioning into snow above I-90. Above freezing temperature will produce snowmelt in the southern part of the region.

A frontal system will bring our next shot for widespread precipitation Friday into Saturday. Snow is anticipated across northern areas, whereas southern areas will see a mix or all rain. Drought conditions have worsened over past two weeks in spots.

A cold front brings us our next shot for more widespread snow on Sun. Confidence is increasing in above normal temperatures heading into early Mar. The mild temperatures in combination with our snowpack will result in river rises due to snowmelt.
