There is a High risk of rip currents in effect today through early Sunday morning along the Gulf-facing beaches of the Middle Texas Coast. Dangerous swimming conditions are expected, especially near piers and jetties. #stxwx #txwx

It will be breezy and warm across South Texas today ahead of an approaching front, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Tonight will be cooler and pleasant as a drier airmass settles in. Overnight lows will range form the mid 60s to the low 70s. #stxwx #txwx

There is now a 60% chance of tropical cyclone formation in the next 7 days in regards to the tropical wave over the Yucatan Peninsula. An increased risk of coastal flooding, rip currents, and heavy rain are expected as we head through the weekend and into next week. #stxwx #txwx

The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor a tropical disturbance that now has a HIGH (70%) chance of development over the SW Gulf of Mexico within the next 7 days.

4 PM Update: The Gale Warning has been extended through 9 PM this evening for high northeast winds. Small Craft Advisory will go into effect tonight at 7 PM and will remain in effect through 7 PM Sunday.

Small Craft Advisory conditions will continue across much of the marine zones through Sunday with NE winds at 20-30 knots and seas up to 10 feet. These are dangerous marine conditions; mariners should seek safe harbor!

Rain chances increase early this week. NHC is monitoring an area of low pressure & have given it a high, 80%, chance of development over the next 7 days. This may result in heavy rainfall and flash flooding Tue and Wed. There will be slightly cooler temperatures through midweek.

The NHC has a HIGH, 80%, chance of tropical cyclone development over the SW Gulf of Mexico within the next 7 days. Heavy rainfall, minor coastal flooding, and a high risk of rip currents are expected. Please monitor your forecast and take necessary precautions.

Today and tonight will be cooler than normal, with highs near 90s and low in the mid 60s to low 70s. Yes! You read that correctly...lows in the 60s!!

Hazardous conditions are expected along area beaches with wave heights of 5-7 ft, a HIGH risk of rip currents, and minor coastal flooding expected today. Please be extremely cautious if heading to the beach today or Monday.

A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect through Monday morning. Water may reach the dunes, impacting driving on the beach. There is also a HIGH risk of rip currents in effect. Beachgoers are urged to use caution.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through this afternoon for the Bays and through Monday morning over the open waters. Northeast winds up to 30 knots and seas to 10 ft are possible. Mariners are urged to use caution and to avoid these conditions if possible.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Six will continue to move closer to the area and is expected to become a Tropical Storm sometime Monday. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for the offshore Middle Texas Coastal Waters. Mariners and beachgoers are urged to use caution.
