Glacier dammed lakes (GDL), or Jökulhlaups, are unique flood hazards in Alaska! 2023 was quite the year for Jökulhlaups! In Juneau, the Mendenhall GDL caused historical damage. On the Kenai Peninsula, the Snow and Skilak GDLs released at the same time! #floodaware #akwx
