Among the many here Sat., rich wilhelm girls’ varsity flag football team … new CPL sport now in 2nd yr. in Ill. Last year 22 teams, now 46.
“It’s incredibly important to hire women to coach women,” said Kate Drohan. … “(And) until there are just as many women coaching men as men coaching women, then I’ll stop my crusade. I feel very passionate about it.”
Work-life balance? “You own the guilt and then you just erase it,” said NU Dep. AD Janna Blais … Coaching in Feb., Kate Drohan tells of being asked who was home with her daughter. “I was like, ‘Have you asked every other man here?’ We change (attitude) 1 conversation at a time.”
On mental health for women student athletes, Kate Drohan: “I’m confident all 19 of our sports talk about this on a daily basis at NU. We’ve been talking about this for a long time.”
On biggest difference b/w coaching males and females. “One of biggest differences I see is that females tend to be way more critical of themselves. I understand that. I understand that and want to build them up. …,” said AMONTE SPORTS
What did sports do for Dr. Chinazo Cunningham? “Performance under pressure. Come at me. That’s my mentality. Bring it.”
