When I'm asked during interviews to describe the difference between a tornado & a downburst, I usually say the air with the first is 'in and up' while the second is 'down and out'. The amazing WindEEE dome at @WesternUEng, run by Girma Bitsuamlak, makes this distinction pretty clear.

New paper (early online release) from NTP's @Joanne_Kennell. Over 230 'missing' Canadian tornadoes found! In Ontario, 103 tornadoes were discovered, followed by 98 in Quebec, 9 in Manitoba, 6 in Saskatchewan, 9 in Alberta, 5 in British Columbia and 1 in New Brunswick.
