Very sad news about NSTheatres going into administration. Apart from the immediate loss of an important cultural centre & 100s of jobs - unless action is taken many more will follow. I hope SouthamptonCC & Arts Council England can step in. Love & solidarity to those directly affected.

Satvir Kaur Anne Rogers We still need to work hard as a city to save NSTheatres Quite rightly, we stopped talking about S144 a while ago. Because it’s the people who bring the place to life, not the bricks. It’s the social value that the activity brings to the city. We need to stand up for our people.

I toured to NST in 2018. The lifts were, as everyone now knows, a nightmare. But it was one of the largest audiences on that tour, and easily the most diverse. The next day I ran a workshop for a fantastic group of emerging artists. Whatever went on, they were getting lots right.

So. Yesterday this happened for In all honesty I’m still sad and furious that it had to happen at all. So many lost jobs and a legacy. But Mayflower are absolutely the right bunch to be taking over. Look forward to coming down for a grand reopening. NSTheatres #nuffieldtheatre

Chuffed that BBC Arts have recorded Nick Dear’s play #Dedication in honour of NSTheatres. I commissioned and directed it for NSTheatres in 2016, with the superb Tom Rhys Harries and #TomMcKay as Southampton & Shakespeare. Can’t wait to hear this version. bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…
