I’m going back in. From after Easter, I’m returning to the classroom and picking up the role of Professional Development Lead. If you’re in a similar role, it’d be great to connect.

Five little things I’m enjoying about being back in school again: 1 Planning lessons. 2 Seeing children motivated by learning. 3 Conversations with colleagues and the camaraderie of a department base. 4 Hearing, “Hi sir,” as you walk along a corridor. 5 Having a tutor group.

With some extra time on my hands recently, and quite a bit to think about, I’ve been doing some poetry writing. Here’s something inspired by recent events.

Right. Today’s poem is late because it’s sort of three poems. It’s also about an animal and I’ve not done a poem about an animal before. So, here’s an extended Ode to a Mumified Cat, inspired by a visit to Leicester Museum with an old friend.
