At today’s #MineBanIM side event, NPA Syria CD Chris Tierney stressed that prevention is better than cure as it costs more time, money and lives to deal with the problem of AP mines after it is created. He strongly encouraged all states to accede or stay within the #APMBC.

It’s a myth that AP mines protect borders. Armies no longer march across borders, using them for this purpose makes no sense. They are set to kill, responsible use is impossible, civilians don’t have maps, and mines migrate, says NPA’ Jonathon Guthrie at the #MineBanIM
