Improvement/Removal expected for all drought in the Midwest. Large parts of the Plains + pockets in the Northwest/N. Rockies too.

Next week looks relatively wet for most of the United States, especially northern areas, per NOAA’s NWS Climate Prediction Center. Drier for southern areas, especially South/West TX and FL.

Temps: Cool for the West into the Plains. Warmer for the rest of the Lower 48.

#DroughtMonitor 4/30: For the 3rd week in a row, drought worsened in western KS/OK. But it improved in eastern KS/OK. Drought was introduced to FL and added to Southeast MT.

At least 25% of KS/OK had been in drought between Nov 2021 and Jan 2024 before conditions started improving. But recent precip has been sparse and drought is back over 50%.
