Winnie Byanyima agreed that decriminalization is the only answer but wondered why a. criminalisation of demand is a problem. b. how sexwork is considered work when poor women are forced by poverty to take it up c. if sexworkers would advocate this work for their children d. 2/4

d. pimps have power over the workers and should we not criminalise them? I was deeply impressed by the sexworker representatives from NSWP who answered her with calm & patience. So much dignity in their effort to explain to Winnie Byanyima their lived reality. 3/4

Sexworkers established sisterhood with Winnie Byanyima and told her how sex work actually uplifted them from poverty, helped feed & educate their children, a roof, healthy families, how they organised 4 safe working conditions & to fight violence and exploitation. Salute!
